Like many of us, I followed news coverage of this summer's devastating floods in Alberta closely. So when long time clients, Sticks and Stones Design Group, recently asked me to head to Canmore and Calgary to photograph some of their work, I was curious to see what I might find.
It was amazing to see that while evidence of the flooding was apparent, an incredible amount of repair work has already been done, and the hard-working people of these great communities have come together in a way that's truly inspiring, and uniquely Canadian.
The homes featured here are just a few examples of the beautiful spaces I regularly get the privilege of photographing.

When planning real estate photography, I watch the weather like an eagle-eyed meteorologist. I check the Environment Canada website in advance for the long-range forecast, and rely on my handy Doppler app for updates as the day of the shoot gets closer. Then I focus on calculating sunset or sunrise times, and figuring out where the sun will hit the property in order to show it in the best light. (Pardon the pun!)
When I photographed this beautiful home in Penticton for Kim at All Elements: Design. Manage. Build recently, the planets aligned, and the clouds cooperated!
I really enjoy working with designers and builders, and it's extra special for me when the pictures I take help them win professional recognition and awards. With the Canadian Home Builders Association of the Central Okanagan now accepting submissions for the 2013 Tommie Awards I'm looking forward to working once again with new, and existing, clients to capture the beauty and skill of their work in photos.
It was a gala affair covered by all the media, with a broad range of dignitaries and VIP's in attendance. From a hole in the ground to a beautiful hotel with 120 plush rooms and Ric's Lounge and Grill in 15 short months, the Four Points by Sheraton Airport is a crown jewel for Argus Properties, and testament to the company's 'get-it-done' attitude.
It's official, the Four Points by Sheraton Airport is open!
Congratulations to Argus Properties Ltd., and Four Points by Sheraton on their beautiful hotel!
It's 6:30 am on June 11th and I'm nervously scanning the just-released
results of the WelcometoKelowna.com Best of Kelowna 2013 contest when my
phone buzzes to indicate a new text has arrived. The note from my
girlfriend, Karen, who was obviously much quicker than I at finding the
results, read: "You won!!!!!" Excitement and gratitude immediately
replaced nerves!
What a humbling experience to be selected as Kelowna's Best Photographer.
And what an honour to have been in a category with so many talented
colleagues I hold in high esteem!
To the clients, friends and others who voted for me I say a huge "Thank
you!" Your ongoing support means the world to me.
It was a beautiful morning for Darren and Dana's Las Vegas wedding, with barely a cloud in the sky and temperatures in the low 30's predicted. In planning the shot list, I knew mixing air-conditioned, indoor locations with outdoor, iconic Vegas landmarks as backdrops was critical!
Dana was stunning in her elegant wedding dress and Darren looked fantastic in his tux! They were stars about posing in the heat, and the love they have for each other is wonderful and obvious.
Gorgeous and elegant!
It was an amazing day with a wonderful couple. It is always an honour to be included in, and asked to photograph, such an important day.
Thank you Darren and Dana!
